Stones and more stones

This year I am turning my focus much more to stones. I call it my "spiritual stones collection - release your inner power!" I have created small informational cards for each stone type to tell about the healing and mystical qualities. It can be a fun way to select a gift for someone or yourself.

Feldspar: Thought to aid in the treatment of skin and muscular disorders. A stone of creativity that helps us find new ways to reach our goals. Assists in finding misplaced items. Helps you cope and see things in a more positive light.

Tiger Eye: A protective stone with a powerful, dynamic energy and a watchful quality. Balances the brain. Aids in healing broken bones. Promotes prosperity, clarity, protection, courage and confidence. Enhances good luck. Stimulates taking action.

Fossilized Coral is a form of agate. Agate is a cooling stone that quiets the pulse. Guards against danger and helps you become more cautious. Believed to cure insomnia and insure pleasant dreams.

Outback wood jasper: Jasper brings joy to life! A centering and grounding stone that brings calm and tranquility. Combats exhaustion. Helps create a positive attitude.

These bracelets are combinations of various jaspers, tiger eye, agates and rock crystal.

These bracelets combine carnelian, agates, tiger eye, various jaspers with copper.

Rhyolite: A stone of protection, regeneration and general healing. Balances the mineral content of the body. Helps one listen and process the past, helping us to move forward.

Pink quartz, freshwater pearls and pewter.

Stocking Up

I have been working hard stocking up for this years show season. My to do list is huge so it can feel overwhelming. Where to start? I break it into manageable pieces by working by color. If you have ever been into my booth you may have noticed that it is organized by color. The shutters on one side are cool colors and the other side is warm. The necklaces on the table tops follow this pattern also. This last week I have been tackling cool colors. Bright multi-colors, greens, blues and finally purple.

I start by refilling each shutter, going over each pair of earrings and polishing or tweaking as needed. Then I can see what my needs are for backup. I also put a few bracelets on each shutter and so this is a chance to see what gaps I have there. Then it is time to make things. New this year will be the addition of more stone earrings and bracelets and less glass only items.

Here are a few of the things that you will find on my shutters this year:

This is an oldie but goodie. Some designs I phase out over time,
but this one continues to be a best seller.
And the same design but with a nod to
our local sports teams, Seahawks and Mariners.
Lapis lazuli earrings. Such a luscious color!
 Assorted green gemstone bracelets.

Just for fun green glass.
Green jasper bracelets and earrings.
 Just for fun glass earrings.

And lastly amethyst earrings and bracelets.

Shop Local, Shop Handmade - Beadware

Today I get to feature...me! Here are a few designs fresh off my work bench. You can see them in person at one of my upcoming shows. This is the last of my Flower Jade series. When I began working with these stones I had no intention of mixing them with pearls, but the stones had other ideas!

 Mixed with freshwater pearls.

Flower Jade is a type of Jadeite. The variety of Jade known as Jadeite comes in a variety of colors including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, lilac, pink, black, white, and brown. Historically, Jadeite has been treasured in China as the royal gemstone, Yu, for 5,000 years. Mined in Japan, Myanmar, Guatemala and USA.  Flower jade is thought to enhance confidence and self-assuredness, helps one gain knowledge from dreams, and assists in getting in touch with one’s spiritual side. More Turitella Agate

Continuing to work with this very cool stone this week.
You can really see the turritella snails in a few of these pendants.

All of these have sold.

SOLD

I had an idea in my head of what I wanted to do when I sat down at my work bench. But the stones had something different in mind! I ended up mixing them with rich coppery freshwater pearls!

For this set I switched to a grey freshwater pearl.
Today I will make more of my new earring design. All of the above have since been SOLD.

You can see all of these new designs in person at this weekends Holiday Preview Sale at my studio in Southworth. Hope you can make it!

This Weeks Work - Turritella Agate

This is my new favorite stone. Turritella agate has so much character.
Crystallized within this stone are fossilized snails and sea creatures!!

All of these have sold.

This agate is thought to provide you with strength and protection. It makes an excellent gift for travelers. It enhances personal connection to one's past lives. It also promotes inner stability, composure and maturity. It helps new mothers avoid depression and it encourages self confidence. A few of the stones were darker so I mixed them with black glass seed beads and pewter.

 This one also has mother-of-pearl.

I really like it mixed with copper. The earrings are a new design with a hammered copper oval.
The ring at the bottom of the pendant is also hammered.
I will continue working in brown and copper over the weekend.
